On Sunday 15th December 2013, we gathered together to celebrate the very first meeting of Scifantor.
We usually just have coffee but to celebrate Christmas and our First Official Meeting (FOM), we enjoyed a lovely breakfast before getting down to business and convening the inaugural meeting of Scifantor. We welcomed Scifantor in a very relaxed and convivial style…the Scifantorites present were Zane, Janis and little Zora, Helen, Greg, David, Brett, Brad and me plus ring ins Paul, Chris, John and Jazzy.
Being the FOM, we did not have a formal agenda just a topic for the month’s micro fiction. The topic was nanotechnology and some of the stories are already up on the website under the Micro Fiction menu.
A wide variety of topics were discussed, too many to enumerate here. If you are after a lively discussion then Scifantor is a great group to join.
We discussed a new project that we will be trialling shortly and if the trial goes well we will go live. So stay tuned to find out what that new project is…
I have to mention the tech savvy SciFantorites that have made our presence on the web feasible in such a short space of time. Let me detail what they have been up to…the Scifantor Web page, Scifantor Facebook page, Scifantor Facebook-group page and Twitter…and I believe we are going Google+ too shortly.
To the SciFantorites Janis, Brett, Zane and Helen, in no particular order, thank you for your enthusiasm and fire in getting all the above set up in under a month. I so wish I worked with you guys in my day job – your get up and go is a breath of fresh air!!!
January’s micro fiction topic is “Renewal/Rebirth” to bring in 2014.
If you’re a local, why not join us? Our meetings are open to readers, writers, and artists of all formats, from dabblers to professionals and every stage in between.
