January 2014 – Quick meeting roundup

We were only a small group today with a few people away. Hope you get better soon Brett!
Pre group discussion about how lovely the roses were near the tables. Now captured for your enjoyment.

Roses

Current reading:
Janis – “The search for Aliens: A rough guide to Life on Other Worlds” by Piers Bizony Non-fiction. Well written. Well worth reading. Wanted more.
Adriana “The Bone Season” by Samantha Shannon. Only half way through – gripping story telling, not sure where it will go…

Other discussions:
Need to put up a list of our social media presence for newer members and the public. Where would be the most benefit? On Facebook page or somewhere on the website. Just looked at the website and it already has links to 3 of the public places: twitter, facebook,  google+ and you can also set up an rss feed. So do we need links on the public facebook and google+ pages?
Facebook: Scifantor Group  https://www.facebook.com/groups/scifantor/ (private group)
Facebook: Scifantor  https://www.facebook.com/Scifantor  (public)
Internet: Scifantor  https://scifantor.com/    (public)
Google +: Scifantor  https://plus.google.com/+Scifantor/posts (public)  Twitter: Scifantor  https://twitter.com/Scifantor   (public)

Gold Coast Anthology:
Prana Writers’ Gold Coast anthology will be having their launch on May 10, 2014 at 2.30pm at Southport Community Centre. Here is the link if you want to find out more http://goldcoastanthology.info/

Janis read her micro fiction. It was very funny.
Please don’t forget to upload your micro fiction to the website.

Next Month:
Next meeting is Sunday 16th February 2014 usual place at 9.30am.
New topic for February “Recycling”
Critique on Brett’s Cade Cooper – 1st 3 chapters in the Files on Facebook-group page.

Hope everyone has a good month.
