June 2016 – Quick meeting roundup

We had more visitors this month, welcome all! We hope you had a good time and we would love to see you again at our next Scifantor meeting.

Some of the discussions on Sunday in brief…

On the Grammarly website, ‘Grammarly quickly and easily makes your writing better.’

Grants or funding:
Last month Becky mentioned AMP’s Tomorrow Fund. This is a private company that is offering grants from $10,000 to $100,000 in any field from art to technology. The site is really worth a look even if unfortunately the closing date for 2016 is 18th May, worth remembering.

What have the Scifantorites been up to…

Becky has been asked to tutor a client in public speaking. Becky also wrote 2 micro fiction this month.

Brad wrote a micro fiction this month. Love your humour Brad.

Brendan is writing a fantasy trilogy. He has been told that his writing is like Philip Pullman’s The Golden Compass.

Brett could not make the meeting this month. Hope you are back next month fighting fit!

Catherine found that while writing her micro fiction she got that elusive spark that got her creative juices  going. Currently she is doing research to keep that spark going and has already mapped out the arc for her story.

Cherie is currently reading the first 5 chapters of Kim’s Infernum.

Danica is promoting her first book ‘Lost Worlds’ in her series ‘Battles of Azriel’; her 2nd book is back from the editors and she is currently writing book 3.

David is currently in Singapore; see you next month!

Emily came along today as support for Danica. She is currently enjoying Arrow season 4.

Janis could not make the meeting this month. Hopefully we will see you next month.

Lani has completed the first draft of an epic fantasy. She is currently writing a women’s lit piece.

Kasia published book 3 ‘Lethal Aftershock’ in her series ‘A Lexi Ryder Crime Thriller’.

Kim has sent the first 5 chapters of ‘Infernum’ to her contact in the US. She is going to power ahead and hopes to finish the first draft by the end of July this year. Given that she has had to learn how to write a comic script when even the publishers all have different guidelines that is an ambitious goal. You go Kim, we know you can do it!

Renee is currently writing book 3 in her series ‘Guardians of the Gateways’. Looking forward to your book signing at Angus & Robertson Bookstore at Victoria Point in August.

Zane is 70% through the James Patterson writing course. He is currently working on book 1 ‘Mountain of Lights’ of his sci-fi series called Guidance. He recently published book 3 ‘Miami Downunder D.O.A’ of his Roy Findley Miami P.I. series.

and Adriana has not done much recently apart from writing up the monthly blog for Scifantor.

What have the Scifantorites been reading, watching…

Zane saw Warcraft: The Beginning last week and really enjoyed it.

This month’s Micro Fiction theme was ‘Heart’

Next month’s Micro Fiction theme…is actually a phrase…
